Left Collingwood in the rain and cold. Only about 7 degrees all day. Drove on all the minor roads up through Orillia, Muskoka Falls, Denbigh, through great countryside, narrow winding roads. No trucks, little traffic, not much accommodation. Eventually reached Renfrew where we found a place to stay at the Rocky Mountain Lodge.
Basic but OK motel, UNTIL ready for bed at nearly midnight, Barry pulled back the bedclothes and found a dead squirrel under the pillow. OMG. It was only recently deceased so not smelly or messy, and nobody in office this late, so had to deal with it. Brought our own pillows in though, and presented it to the poor receptionist next morning. Scared the daylights out of her, and we got the biggest apology and quickest refund we'll ever get.
