Montreal

Arrived in Montreal in the pouring rain and it was sooooo cold. 7 degrees was about as warm as it got today. Rented a cabin at the KOA in southern Montreal and got settled. Still raining but drove to the city anyway. Drove around a bit but there were serious traffic jams and serious rain and cold and we decided to go back to the cabin and freeze there. It only warmed up a little even with a heater.

Next day, weather slightly better so we drove in and parked the car. It was the annual free museum day, so free shuttle buses were running and we hopped on and off where we thought looked good. We saw a couple of museums, street performers, bands, lots of people despite the weather and lots of the city. We wandered in the old town along cobblestone streets, climbed the tower of one of the churches, and generally had a very good day.

Later we had a drink and dinner at Cabaret due Roy where the staff dress as pirates and one of the played the guitar and banjo and sang songs in french, plus one in english for us, a shanty which we actually knew. It would have been good to stay for the show but as it is totally in French and storytelling was a big part, it would have been a waste of time.

Walked for nearly an hour back to where we had keft the car, and then got hopelessly lost on the way home as one of the exits had been blocked for roadwork  and our Garmin had trouble finding an alternate route. Eventually made it, with the help of my iPad GPS.
