Ottawa

Left Renfrew early and reached Ottawa mid-morning. Still raining. Booked into the HI - Ottawa Jail, youth hostel. It is an old prison which used to house up to 150 men, women and children, including death row prisoners. We were given a tour of the jail which was quite enlightening. If you want to, you can sleep on the death row level for free, but most people won't, or won't last all night, as it is said to be haunted. Our floor was OK, we saw no ghosts, the rooms were basic but warm and it was a great experience, and we met some great people.
